Chucks has the best shrimp oysters and other seafood in the area. I have frequented Chucks for over 20 years and they never let me down with wonderfully fresh seafood. Tonite the lobster bisque was fantastic. If your in the area a.must do

Cost not worth it! My hubby and I were fishing in Ft Pierce and wanted some good seafood after such a long day. We checked reviews for all the different establishments in the area of the Jetty. Chuck's actually had the second highest reviews and stars next to A12 but the wait was over an hour at A12 so we decided to give Chuck's a try. The most recent reviews gave 5 stars for their fried shrimp and the ambience of the restaurant. We loved the décor and the server found a sit very quickly. That was the last thing done quickly. Our waiter seemed to be stretched to the limit. The gap between each course of orders was ridiculous. I ordered a clam chowder app and we shared a delicious huge bowl. I needed a refill of my drink after my chowder but instead I got my caeser salad and some crackers. The salad was "OK", nothing to new. For our meals, I ordered the crab cake dinner with parsley potatoes and hubby ordered grilled grouper with parsley potatoes. Both of our orders came out wrong, I had a huge baked potato with a butter and sour cream. I told the waiter that I ordered parsley potatoes and he said sorry and reached onto my plate and took the baked potato with his BARE HANDS off my plate mumbling about the kitchen. Hubby also did not get his parsley potatoes but green beans instead. The bottom line is that I have had much better seafood at a better price. The price for this place is not worth the experience. The other reviews raved about the fried shrimp but for a place of this standard, if the best thing is the fried shrimp then it is obviously not worth the time or money. Afterwards we realized we should have just waited the hour wait for better food, better prices and better service.

The conch fritters were great as were the fried oysters I ordered. Some of my family members ordered the broiled scallops and they were over cooked and rubbery. Overall it was a good meal with that one exception. Great location and fantastic views of the inlet. Service was excellent. Since it was my birthday, I received a price of key lime pie with happy birthday written on the plate in syrup. Since I didn't pay the bill, I don't know if it free or not.

The Tuna was the best since the last time I was in Hawaii. Cooked perfectly sesame crusted. Great service too.

My husband and I went to Chuck's for Valentines Day. My husband got the broiled fish combo (scallops, shrimp, fish) and a baked potato. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi with linguine. Both were very good! My only complaint would be that the view on the deck was obstructed. They had a plastic cover to protect the patrons from the wind, which was appreciated, but we could not see the water because the bottom was solid blue plastic. It should be clear plastic so we could enjoy the view!

Good fried shrimp. Very busy restaurant.

Pricey, average food, probably won't be back.

Excellent food and service. We had smoke fish dip and calamari. Fried shrimp, Yellowtail Scampi and broiled Fishermans Platter. All good. We sat on the outside upstairs area and the setting was perfect. Our new favorite restaurant. Only drawback? Parking.

Spending a night in Ft Pierce, we wanted to drive a different place for dinner than we'd eaten out for lunch. I'm thinking we should've gone to the same place after all. From the second we walked in, I just never felt like we were welcomed in this place. The hostess was less than gracious and inviting but showed us to our table anyway. Our server never introduced herself to us during the whole meal and I always ask them to repeat their names and call them by them throughout the meal. Asking for our drink order, we chose a house cabernet but it tasted like Carlo Rossi from the jug and even after 3 glasses I never got used to the bad taste of it. We ordered an appetizer of fish dip and it was the most expensive in any restaurant in Florida I've ever had at $10.95. Usually, it's $7 or $8. The dip was very thick and lacked the smoky taste we normally find in south Florida. Both Ritz and Saltine crackers came with it but you could tell they were really cold and the Saltines were stale-tasting. Dinners came with salads and you could tell they were prepared in advance and put back into the fridge, where the lettuce got soft and limp. It's hard to mess up a salad but these people found a way. We both ordered a seafood combo that had a piece of fish, 3 scallops, 4 shrimp, a hush puppy and a side dish. For $24.95 I expect to have enough food to feel satisfied from but this was far from it. The fish was a soft, uninspiring white fish that seemed like snapper and was about 4 ounces. The best thing were the scallops. Even though we picked our dinners to be broiled, they were just disappointing. The pimple on the evening was the table next to ours, who played a streaming video on a phone so loud we couldn't have a conversation at our own table. And with the dining room bustling with employees, you would think one of them would ask them to leave the dining room with that or turn it off to keep from disturbing guests but that was apparently too much to ask for. There are many places to dine at on Hutchinson Island and I would certainly pass this one up for one of the others.

My first time in Fort Pierce. We were able to get an outdoor table with a great view and a nice breeze off of the water. I ordered the chicken parm dinner which was very good and a large portion to boot (served with pasta). The wait staff was attentive and friendly and the owner was a nice guy who showed us some pictures on the wall of celebrities who ate at the restaurant, and invited us to come back for the 4th of July (unfortunately I went home on 7/3) Next time I'm back in Florida and in the vicinity of Ft Pierce, I will be at Chucks for sure.

Two thumbs up! We sat outside on a breezy Sunday evening. Service was prompt and very attentive! We ordered conch fitters and fried shrimp for appetizers, both were really good. I ordered a filet minion and my guest ordered the shrimp trio, we were both extremely pleased. The filet was tender, juicy, and very flavorful. My guest loved his shrimp trio. We also had drinks; I had the root beer beer and it was great, he had a ipa which he wasn't to excited about. The ipa was the only thing that wasn't enjoyed. Overall, excellent service and food! We will definitely be back!

Been there done that and will not be eating there again. We sat down immediately and the wait staff was attentive. The food was just ok nothing to brag about just basic.

Tonight we had clams on the half shell and they were he perfect size bs so tender. I had grilled grouper which was seasoned perfectly. My husband had steak that was yummy too. I would like to come back and try some more dishes.

Our lightly breaded and delicately fried shrimp appetizer was very very good. I had the yellow fin tuna. Very fresh and very tasty. My wife had the broiled seafood medley and she loved it. The atmosphere was very relaxing but genuinely nothing spectacular or unusual. Just very nice. The high point of our visit (and I sure am sorry I didn't get her name) was our server. You could tell that her job came naturally to her and that she enjoyed doing what she was doing. She had a wonderful smile and a fantastic personality and she went well above and beyond. How refreshing! That's why I didn't mind (at all) leaving a 25% tip on an $80.00 meal. (We had desert, too.) What a gem!

Beautiful nautical decor with a great view of the inlet and island. Must have the special Bloody Mary with the shrimp garnish and Old Bay rimmed salt! Good oysters Rockefeller and Excellent fried shrimp! Everything was very good with good team service pitching in to help new waitress. Definitely recommended for anyone in the area... And come at sunset.. The view is great and lively happy hour crowd.

First time here. I had fried shrimp, it was very fresh and plenty of it. Our waitress was very friendly and took great care of us. The atmosphere was great, except very loud. Great views of the water. Pretty pricey though.

We were really happy with our lunch here. I had the fried platter and the hub had a fried Mahi sandwich. It was all excellent and fresh tasting. Will be back.

With 4 visits to Chucks, I am ready to make a post. 1. Expensive 2. Tacky tables ( catfish parlor advertisement on top) 3. Pedestrian waitstaff , but aren't they everywhere now . 4. Pedestrian food. I give them, because of the $$, a 6/10. However, the view is nice if you can get an outdoor table!

  • Rebecca M.

Lovely seat by the inlet. Beautiful sunsets over the lagoon. Catch of the day was grouper and it was served hot and tasty with parslied potatoes and mixed veggies. Service was good, and we were so engrossed in our conversation we didn't realize everyone left. The manager came up to tell us the restaurant was closed. 9pm....we probably could have stayed another hour.

I don't know what happened in the past ten months since I've been there but what was once great is no more. Clam chowder had to be sent back. It was replaced with Lobster Bisque that also had to be sent back. Owner came out and apologized and said he took both things off the menu for being so bad. Nothing else was offered to eat. I had those famous fried shrimp. Oh my what happened to the the way they used to be fried. They used to be so soft and tender. Mine were hard and crunchy. I really like this restaurant and hope this was just a bad night....

  • Brookie N.

I love this place- the fish dip and yellow fish seared are absolutely spectacular! The service is exemplary and I can't wait to return the next time that I'm in town. Ask for Tara and she'll take care of you with a warm smile!

Always busy. Somewhat no-frills both in terms of atmosphere and service. But efficient and food is tasty, place can be fun. Last time had stone crabs, which were on the small side, but very fresh. Expensive for what it is, but good size portions. They could do a little better on the beer selection.

  • Janice L.

Food was good. Very busy! Glad we made a reservation. My mom got the fried shrimp and said it was the best she has ever had. I got prime rib-- quite a bit of fat but it was delicious once I got to the actual meat. Pricey place but right on the water. Close seating and loud atmosphere. Overall good place.

  • Wanda R.

First visit there. Server was very good and knowledgeable. I had crab cakes that were the worst I've ever had. Very salty and full of breading. Ate half of one and told them to throw the rest away. My husband had the broiled platter which was delicious and a very generous portion. I will go back and try it again, but making sure I order some sort of broiled dish.

    (3)
  • Wendy S.

Dinner for two-- started by being seated close to the window for a view. We had ice water waiting for us upon arrival, however we waited for 25 minutes for wait staff to acknowledge that we were there -- upon the 3rd request to speak with whom ever was assigned our table, our order was taken. The famous fried shrimp was bland and was served 5 instead of the six per menu description. I ordered the broiled seafood combo which was again, bland. The quantity of seafood you receive for the price when ordering this selection was more than adequate -- the shrimp were large in size. My husband ordered the salmon oscar, with a side of asparagus. The asparagus was perfectly cooked and seasoned- the crab in the salmon was plentiful and the salmon was cooked just right. We were never offered something to drink (only water) and were given the bill without asking about dessert-- we would not have ordered any but this goes toward the service being subpar. The view is good, with so many other waterfront restaurants to choose from, we won't be back.

  • Tammie C.

Server was knowledge and friendly, fast service and reasonable prices. Great view of inlet waterway with a full bar. Negative was the crab cakes were mostly filler.

Great place if you wanna eat outside. Good happy hour prices and cocktails. Right on the water. Dinners are expensive but very tasty.

Delicious blackened grouper or their shrimp special. Great atmosphere. Plan an early dinner or make reservations to sit outside.

Sports Bar food at gourmet prices. These people stopped trying a long time ago, I think. This place stays in business on northerners who cross the causeway and get all goo goo over the water and the "Florida thing". Just left there five minutes ago... The food was overpriced by half. Sometimes that happens and when it comes the portions are large or the preparation is special in some way; not at Chuck's. $8 for 3 tiny institutional grade chicken strips (appetizer). Surf and Turf is $48 and barely worth 20. The salad is made with absolutely no care or thought: some greens and hard-as-a- brick bagged croûtons. Rice that came with the blackened fish was a tiny portion and had no taste except salt (I suspect it came from a big premixed bag). The fish was good but the portions were small and for a big price. Every person in Florida can go to the fish counter at Publix and see how much the fish cost...should there really be a 500% markup? They served cold, undercooked rolls--very hard and seemed old--anyway, they weren't good. Nothing is special at Chuck's and any changes to your meal incur upcharges $2 here and $1 there added on for every little thing. "Chuck" must be a real skinflint cause he is making damn sure no one gets any value for their money at his place. Big prices, small portions of bland, uninteresting food. I notice people mention the "ambiance"...which would suggest that they never see water where they live. The water view is beautiful but the room itself is a scruffy, sports bar atmosphere. Eat somewhere else and sit on the pier; this is not worth the money or the time. $48 surf and turf and you won't even get a salad fork.

The food and service was excellent. Our fish ( snapper, grouper , and kids fried fish) was very fresh and nicely prepared. Conch fritters appetizer was very good. and so was the smoked fish spread. The key lime pie was the best we've had so far , ever! And this review comes from a family of 6 that lives in south Florida and are very familiar with the type of meals we ordered. Of most importance was the fresh fish, many claim it but few restaurants really deliver on this one. Hats down to Chucks! Too bad we live 4 hours away.

I'm giving it 4 stars and it's not why you think... Neither my wife, daughter or daughter's friend eat seafood unless it's shrimp or lobster. So what do I do? Take them to a seafood restaurant of course. So they got their usual Chicken Parms (2) and a Chicken Caesar salad, blah, blah, blah. Here's the thing, we went here in June which is really not a traditional time of year for oysters on the half shell but they were on the menu and I'd asked the waiter what he thought. He told me that they had some which looked very good and that he'd keep an eye on them while they were being opened and if there was anything to be concerned about he'd gladly direct me to something else. Turns out there was nothing wrong and the oysters were excellent. I ate a dozen and a week later and still around to write about it! Good service, good views, and generally decent food with reasonable wine prices.

Came here in early June 2014 with my girlfriend for what was supposed to be one of the few really nice dinners during our stay on Hutchinson Island. Couldn't have said it better - "sports bar food for fine dining prices." We ordered the calamari which was incredibly too fried and crunchy, but we ate it nonetheless. The salad was less than desirable but not awful. I figured, go big or go home so as my waiter suggested, I went with the surf n turf. He suggested the strip which I should have known to be a mistake but if he suggested it I would try it. The steak was dry and cooked past the medium I had requested. It was poorly seasoned/marinated and very fatty. The lobster tail was quite massive, the only part of the meal worth eating. While dry, it was bearable after drenching it in the butter sauce. My girlfriend ordered chucks famous fried shrimp. It wasn't bad, but for more than half the price, I would suggest going to Manatees and getting the coconut shrimp. The French fries that came with her meal were honestly the only part that was cooked as expected and pretty yummy. All in all, I would not suggest dining here other than for the great view from the deck. A day later, this review is "politically correct" but we walked away using the words "awful" and "horrible"

For seafood Chuck's is hard to beat on the Treasure Coast. Took the family there tonight and every dish was as expected-perfect. The Fried Shrimp is a must, along with the Conch Fritters. We ordered our dinners off of the specials menu and they were worth it. Stop in and give them a try, beware they pack out.

The tastiest fried shrimp, cooked to perfection, ever!! The hush puppy is spiced just right. The sweet potato fries are yummy. My daughter & I stopped in by chance the first time and couldn't wait to return.

I absolutely love coming to this restaurant! I love to sit on the deck and look out at the water. It was even more beautiful tonight as we were there as the sun was setting. The lobster bisque and shrimp scampi were to die for. It is on the pricey side but well worth the splurge for a nice treat or a celebration.

When my wife and I arrived we were pleasantly surprised that the restaurant was pretty crowded, this is usually a good indicator that the restaurant is good, or they're giving food away. We started with the Bahamian Conch Chowder which wasn't bad. A bit watery, but tasty. We also had a dozen clams on the half shell, raw. They were very fresh, and hardly no sand. Dinner rolls were "just baked", meaning they had that "doughy" taste of not being completely baked. The salad was fresh, but you are just asked when you order, "Ranch or bleu cheese?" Leading me to believe that there was no other choice of salad, or dressing. My wife ordered the shrimp scampi, it wasn't hot, like it had been completed and the waitress didn't get to it in time. I ordered the soft shell crabs - again, not hot, also not very tasty. I had the parsley potatoes with the dish, I found that the potatoes weren't fully cooked. I had two glasses of wine, my wife had one glass of unsweet iced tea, and never got a refill, so drink sparingly. The restaurant itself is cozy - we sat outside just before sundown, if you are obviously sitting out there and you have the luck of facing west, you better wear some good sunglasses! The staff seemed short and in a huff. When the waitress placed the serving tray down next to us in order to serve the next table, she almost took my wife right out, and then when she picked it up to leave, she almost took me out. No apology, or acknowledgment whatsoever. Based on the main dish, and the lack of service, as well as not really getting what I believe is quality for an overpriced meal, I give this two stars and will not recommend or return to Chucks.

My wife and I just ate there tonight. The food was terrible. Fried food had batter so thick you could not taste the food it was covering. My wife's chicken Parmesan was disgusting. Will never go there again.

I was visiting Ft. Pierce under not so pleasant terms and I stayed a week longer than planned. I had to eat somewhere and a friendly neighborhood police officer suggested I try Chuck's. I ate at the bar every time and didn't have appetite enough for a full blown meal but I took advantage of their six for $6.00 appetizer menu during happy hour. So glad I did! Shrimp was DELICIOUS, both the boiled and famous fried. They make their own sauces and I can't remember ever having a tartar sauce that was the equal to what they served. Wyndie and Tonja were running the bar area and were super! I went back on multiple days and the same great service and food was the norm not the exception. Also you should see the LOBSTER! So pretty they were photo worthy and I will post some photos on this site as well. You really should go out of your way to stop in and try this joint. If I were a local it would be my Cheers, everyone would know my name. Thanks to you, Officer R.S. for the great suggestion and everything you did for this traveler in distress. My gratitude and thanks are not enough for what you did for us... So I say again, EAT AT CHUCKS! and say Hi to Tonja and Wyndie from Lisa at thebackpackstudio!

Enjoyed the fried oysters so much came back a second time during the week. Fried shrimp and hush puppies. You know I like the fried food, and Chuck's does it well. Wendy at the bar makes a perfect drink. Ask for her and think about eating down there. It's where the fun is!

Location is everything! Outdoor deck on the Indian River is great. Fired shrimp at $17.95 for a dinner is pretty steep! Salmon dish too salty. Grouper was excellent

Excellent Food and a great atmosphere. I highly recommend Chuck's Seafood Restaurant. It is located right on the water, with a great view. I ordered the Oyster's Rockefeller as an appetizer, which was delicious. My girlfriend ordered the Lobster Bisque... another excellent choice. For my entree, I had the Broiled Sampler which came with generous portions of Red Snapper, huge shrimp and scallops. Everything was perfectly prepared. I highly recommend stopping here if you are in the area. Some of the neighborhoods look a bit sketchy on the way to this diamond in the rough, but it is worth the journey. Trust me.

I went here on 4th of July for a quick drink and food.. The service was great we sat at the bar and the bartenders were very friendly and made a good Bloody Mary... The place is a dive but most the places are old and Divey looking on Hutchinson Island it gives it, it's charm... I ordered the Shrimp Cocktail since I am on a Diet and my friend had the fish and the Oysters he really enjoyed his he cleaned his plate.. All and All a cute local face with good food and its right on the water..

2 words - fried shrimp. Work your entire course around Chuck's FAMOUS fried shrimp.

  • James C.

We went there before a show at the Sunrise Theater. Based upon the reviews I ordered the fried shrimp and was disappointed. The shrimp were nicely presented, cut down the back so the shrimp became double corkscrews with a tail to hold all it together. While cooked properly they were bland as was the breading. The accompanying cocktail sauce was too sweet and had no oomph of horseradish to it. the french fries are the battered kind and were crispy but not very potatoish. My wife is a meat eater and had a strip steak that she said was okay but the baked potato was encased in foil and lacked texture.

Fish was very well prepared. Service was very good, and the children's dinners were served very quickly. We found this restaurant on yelp and the reviews were on the mark.

Pretty much in line with other good reviews. Lobster Bisque was very good. Broiled seafood platter (mahi mahi, scallops, shrimp) was prepared properly. Sesame encrusted tuna was done right and served with ginger and wasabi. The wasabi was only ok but it did not detract from the overall satisfaction of the meal. Key lime pie is very tasty. Service was very good and prompt. Will visit again.

  • Moe G.

Our group ordered (and shared) the fried fisherman's platter, seared tuna, grouper with crabmeat stuffing and conch fritters. All the seafood was well prepared. Nice casual waterfront spot on the causeway from Ft. Pierce to Hutchinson Island. Really good key lime pie for dessert. No frills, no entertainment and nothing fancy. Prices are a bit high, but that holds true for just about every seafood restaurant in the area, so no harm. no foul. Pretty much of a no-brainer in the area if fresh fish is on the agenda.

You can't miss this place as it sits on the edge of a round-a-bout on the only street on or off S. Hutchinson Island in Fort Pierce. It's a landmark and everyone knows about it. The view is awesome near the back deck which overlooks the inlet and Indian River. The decorations make you feel like you are in a old-school Florida Seafood restaurant. Pictures of locals catching big fish adorn the walls.. very seafoody if you will. Unfortunately the overpriced seafood is not all that great. We had the fish dip app which was "runny" and not very tasty. We've had better just a walk away at "On the Edge Bar and Grill" but anyway my wife and I split the crushed grouper which was ehh. The greek salad was mostly iceburg and little else. The highlight was the hushpuppies. Seriously delicious but this is a seafood restaurant not a fried fast food chain. Total for 2 cocktails, 1 app, 1 salad and 1 dinner was over $80. Not worth the view or the hushpuppies by a long shot.
